Matches on Clay
3 June 2010
The passing Sunday, we had our first Roland Garros experience along with our friend Fisher. Having spent nearly an hour and a half one evening in February trying to buy these fourth round Suzanne Lenglen tickets (second main court)… it was definitely worth the trouble!

Thankfully, the weather kept up for the most of the day, and it wasn’t until the last match, when we were watching Murray v Berdych did it start pouring and play was halted.

Of the games that we attended, highlights definitely included seeing the Williams sisters playing doubles, who are always a fierce force!

Later on that day, a powerful Soderling steamed past Cilic and of course, we managed to see at least the very competitive start to the Murray v Berdych match.

Olive’s New Friend

Okay… so I finally did it. I bought a new camera! Not a proper SLR since I haven’t saved up for one yet but a mini Diana

I’d been lusting after it for a while but wasn’t sure which type I should get and figured well… I’d prefer the ease of developing 35mm back in Sydney and it’s cheaper, so a mini Diana it is!

I’m going to take it for a spin today (hopefully, if I manage to get film on the way in and work out how to use it on the train…) as it’s a magical 28 degrees here in Paris today and the sun is sublime!

Plans for today?

PS My Canon SX110’s name is Olive :)
PPS I think I’ll call this new one Daphne, what do you think?
Sax and the City
14 May 2010
In the heart of the Old Town of Prague today, we went to see the typical touristy attractions such as the orloj (clock tower), Tyn Church, St Nicholas’ Church amongst many other beautiful monuments and buildings.

Apart from all these sights, what most caught my eye was not the amazing architecture and contrast of colours of nearly all the buildings in the city, but this one saxophone player who was playing and singing with so much joy, I couldn’t help but watch him for at least several minutes and consequently also whipping out my camera to capture it on film!

After first sitting down and playing his tunes, apparently this wasn’t enough… that he got up, blasted new louder music and starting singing as well!

This man brightened up the entire atmosphere around him with his upbeat energy and cheerfulness, definitely brightening my day and I’m sure of many others.

At the point when he went all super-upbeat, I managed to capture most of it on film. However, please excuse the low quality as I’m not quite sure why it wasn’t at its best, the settings must have been off! Anyway, please enjoy his music :)

End of My Geek Week
10 April 2010
charmander pokemon

So for those who have a Facebook, you may or may not have come across on your news feed, that approximately 22,952 Facebookers have been celebrating Pokemon Week online!

When I saw that some of my friends had joined the event, I immediately reminisced those joyous geeky times spent playing Pokemon (blue version) on my Nintendo Gameboy Color (soooo old school!), trading Pokemon cards under the tree at school and of course, watching the episodes on TV… (yes, indeed I did!)

So in this suddent moment of geekiness, I’ve sketched my favourite Pokemon character from the original 150 (or some would say 151 if you must make the number awkward and include Mew). And why only 150? Cecause we all know that the original 150 were the best and always will be!

Please enjoy Charmander, the “4th Pokemon” and a great fiery creature who is ohhhh so cute ♥

Who was your favourite Pokemon??

PS. Whilst we’re on the topic of Facebook, don’t forget to become an official Les Deux fan if you’re on Facebook too… click here
Waiting for the Sun…
9 April 2010

Finally the sun has come back to France. And even if the temperatures remain mild, it makes no end of difference to wake up and see blues of motivation rather than that dreary grey which stayed around for such a long time. With the sun come sunnies. In the recent GQ France I spied something which made me dream of the coming season and struck a creative chord.

A collaboration between Kulte boutique in Paris and the young label Waiting for the Sun these awesome sunnies are a return to sources. Evidently driven by what’s on all our minds these days, if you can get passed the sort-of try-hardness, I think they’re pretty cool. They’re made of natural teawood and entirely hand created…there are even some more masculine styles. Way cooler than those generic and lame Ray-Bans don’t you think??

The 2010 Printemps-Ete ‘Escape’ Collection
is available in all Kulte Boutiques including:
