For those that know me well, I love love LOVE flowers (and plants and trees) and particularly taking photos of them. That’s why gardens excite me. Being in Prague with Gareth at the moment, being in one of those cities whose old-style charm and prettiness DOES win you away… not only is it one of the most photogenic places (particularly with its colours), but it is surrounded by nature as well, which makes it even better!

With so much snapping and not enough time, I’ve decided to split up the photos into two posts, of which the first part will be around the theme of: Flora & Foliage ♥

  

What inspired me most of all today was the understated royal gardens of Prague Castle. More greenery and grass, less constructions and statues. A pleasant and gentle atmosphere, it was a very different type of garden that I am used to (i.e. Villandry, Schonbrunn, Versailles etc) but nonetheless, just as beautiful!

  

Truthfully, the Castle itself was a bit disappointing although I must admit I am comparing it to many other grandiose castles in Europe. Nevertheless, certain areas of the castle grounds had breathtaking views (combined with foliage) over the city…

A small assortment of flower species scattered around the royal garden provided for a minimalist approach which befitted the style of the castle itself.

  

Enjoy the pretty florals everyone! Tomorrow, our schedule consists of properly exploring the Old Town (and also possibly the Plutin Tower and Bludiste, the latter housing a mirror labryinth… if Gareth permits!)
