Anyone who has even gone through the two weeks of constant interviews and phone calls in order to secure a job for the time following uni would probably tell you that it’s the busiest, most stressful time in one’s life since the leaver’s exam at high school. And that’s when you’re in the same country as the jobs for which you’re applying. Being in Paris and topping and tailing my days with 7am and 11pm or later interviews was definitely a lesson in living in two different time zones
Being back in Sydney for 3.5 days and spending 2 days in the air for the whole trip seems pretty fatiguing. And to tell the truth, when I wasn’t doing interviews or being wined and dined at the incredibly overrated Aria restaurant, I was either sleeping or akin to a jet-lagged zombie looking for sleep.
But it was great to be back in Sydney, without really having time to settle in. A quick whistle-stop tour to see family, friends and achieve one real goal. On the side eat some home-made, exotic (for France at least) food and check out what’s changed and what hasn’t in the city (not much!). Plus it’s always nice to see some shiny architecture these European days…

Outside future place of employment, complete with ‘modern sculpture blob’
In any case, the operation must be deemed a success. I returned from Sydney with two offers to contemplate, one of which I’ve taken up and the right to a well-deserved, if slightly jet-lagged holiday in Vienna and Bratislava for Easter. Oh, but of course couldn’t leave without the thing I’ve been craving for approximately 7 months - laksa…and for $7.50

So good, so quick, so cheap…
