It’s coming towards that time of the year where Paris becomes a city reborn. The temperatures are slowly rising, the boring grey sky turns abnormally colourful. Spring is in sight! Which gives one more reason to walk around Paris and take in the sights and smells that this stunning city has to offer.

Recently I did just that with a good friend K, spending a day off classes in Paris shopping and strolling around the Tuileries. Amongst the day’s jaunts was a visit to the well-established Angelina Salon de Thé !

  

Situated just across from the Tuileries gardens on the Rue de Rivoli, Angelina is skilled in catching your eye every time you walk past it. With its glass windows, it allows you to see perfectly into the Salon and all its sweet delicacies on display near the front: macarons, tarts, éclairs, millefeuilles and an assortment of bizarrely-shaped cakes in vibrant colours…. Oh the curiosity!

Clearly unable to resist its allure and having not had lunch at the time, K and I decided to get a sweet thing each to take away (the line to sit down was too, long). Which means that we didn’t have the chance to sample their famous Chocolat Chaud (Hot Chocolate) but that gives us more reason to visit them again!

After 15 minutes of being confused due to too much choice, we chose a Mont Blanc and Saori and took them back with us to the Tuileries to taste…

Mont Blanc
Outer: chestnut cream
Inner: cream and a meringue base

Saori
Outer: white chocolate, topped with pink cream and strawberry
Inner: lemon cheesecake, jelly and biscuit base

The verdict? K & I much preferred the Mont Blanc over the Saori, the chestnut cream was gorgeous and a had a very unique velvety flavour. The Saori was a bit too sweet for my liking and unfortunately for K, not a fan of cheesecake!
